My dream is to write a memoir of my life in addiction but I also want to help the World's Youth and their loved one's not suffer from avoidable pain. My approach on recovery is no longer a 12 Step approach but rather bits a pieces from multiple trial and errors.

How addiction effects your sleep even long after your using days

Do you remember when you were about 13 years old and you would go to bed and pass out and be able to sleep in until 2 in the day if you wanted to. Well I do and really feels like a life time ago. Once I started smoking weed in grade eight or so and then progressed to ecstasy which made me stay up all night I actually developed a sleep disorder called sleep paralysis. It's when your body is frozen but you can see and are half asleep and half awake and usually see figures, I guess its some form of night terror because it is scary as shit. So anyways after that I had a long career of hard opiate use there and now that I'm clean my sleep is only semi normal when I am working full time 40 hours plus a week and working out, otherwise I have to use some medication and I have used them all so I'm going to describe a bunch and explain if they are addictive and if they work.

So after years of sleep problems I have basically been on every medication for insomnia and there are a lot of non addictive medications out there that actually do help.

Active Ingredient *
Zopiclone* (Imuvane): A cross between a benzo and a barbituate very sedating sleeping pill and can be very addictive. First time I took one I could barely walk, they are small blue and usually comne in .5mg

Trazadone: A failed version of an anti depressant but had strong sedation almost tranquilizer qualities. Not addictive at all and coming off of it is easy over any period of time, this was one of the best I used.

Quetiapine* Seroquel: A very hypnotic sedating anti psychotic pill that really can nock you out if you take the dose that some doctors prescribe. Rangers from 25mg pills to 350mg pills which I find very unusually because 50mg will usually nock me out good. I took these for awhile and they are good but they had side effects like drowsiness and lethargic behavior.

Anyways those are the most common 3 out there right now, anything over the counter like diphenhydramine which is Benadryl also works but they are pretty addictive so I personally would recommend Trazadone or Seroquel. Stay away from the Z-Class Drugs!
